Temperatures and slowly creeping up and the evenings are getting longer – spring is just a couple of months away and we can’t wait for the season to start. 2018’s spring is extra special as we have a royal wedding this year, but there’s plenty of stuff happening in and around Market Harborough through the spring months, too.
Here are just some of the things to look forward to this spring in Market Harborough:
Spring is all about getting outdoors and there aren’t many gardens better to do so locally than at Nevill Holy Hall in Medbourne. The gardens were restored in the early-21st century in the form of three walled gardens. The walls work together to create a summer scene that feels warm and summery. On June 3rd the estate is holding an open garden to the public. They’ll be tea and cake too!
Kilworth House Theatre is an open-air theatre with beautiful grounds. From May 29th, the stage will be home to one of the greatest musical comedies of all time, Guys and Dolls, for a couple of months.
You’re right, Foxton Locks is a great trip all year-round but spring (April specifically) is when the boat trips start. Passenger boat trips run most weekends from April to October. The 30-minute trip is undoubtedly the best way to explore the locks.
Through spring, Race Harborough has organised a new running and cycling duathlon on Sunday 18th March taking participants through the sites of the last and most important battle of the First Civil War, the Battle of Naseby. Also, one more familiar with locals is the return of the brilliant Festival of Cycling on Sunday 8th April.
Don’t forget, if you’re taking part in a Race Harborough event, you’ll receive a 15% discount on your hotel booking with us.
Say goodbye to those winter blues with a good old giggle at one of Harborough’s biggest comedy nights, HA HA Harborough. Taking place on Saturday March 24rd, the night will see comedians Nina Gilligan, Philip Simon and Carla Pol take to the stage.
We have 12 different tasting events every month through 2018. Hosted by Duncan Murray Wines, there are a few attention-grabbing events particularly through spring. On April 12th, the tasting will involve wines and ports Portugal and on 24th May we have a gin masterclass that is bound to be popular.
With plenty of bank holidays and Easter breaks to look forward to as well, spring can be an ideal time to have a family getaway.
